To calculate (1+2)รท(3+4), type (1+2)/(3+4). Without parentheses, 1+2/3+4 gives the wrong answer because division runs before addition. When in doubt, add extra parentheses, they never hurt.
After getting a result, press the ANS button to use it in your next expression without retyping. For example: calculate sqrt(144), get 12, then type ANS*ฯ to get 12ฯ instantly.
Before calculating sin(30), check whether you need DEG or RAD. sin(30ยฐ) = 0.5, but sin(30 radians) โ -0.988. Wrong mode = wrong answer. The mode button is right above the screen, toggle it before every trig problem.
In Graph mode, always use lowercase x as your variable. Type x^2-4x+3 to graph a parabola. If you type a number instead of x, the calculator can't plot, it needs x to know what to vary.
To calculate 2 to the power of 8, type 2^8, not 2*8. The ^ button is in the second row of the keypad. For square roots, use sqrt( or the โ button.
To enter negative five, use the (โ) key at the bottom of the keypad, not the minus key. Typing -5 with the minus key inside an expression can cause a syntax error. The (โ) key is specifically for negative numbers.

This is the Degree vs. Radian issue. sin(30ยฐ) = 0.5. But sin(30 radians) โ -0.988 because 30 radians is a very different angle. Check your mode: if you mean 30 degrees, make sure the calculator is in DEG mode. If you're working in radians (like in calculus), use RAD mode.
